Working with our nearby Villages on conservation programs
Rainbow Reef Fiji Foundation works with our local village partners in putting together conservation programs that benefit the Rainbow Reef. Below are examples of how we work with the local community to signficantly accelerate conservation efforts.
Beach and Mangrove Cleanups
Rainbow Reef Fiji Foundation engages local communities in the vicinity of the Rainbow Reef to conduct major cleanup events of beaches and mangroves.
Education about Reef Systems
Our organization works with village schools to educate the next generation about the importance of protecting the reef ecosystem to their livelihood and future generations.
Training PADI AWARE Leaders
By training locals from the villages aorund the Rainbow Reef to be PADI divemasters and divers, we are building an “army” of citizen scientists that can help conduct the important reef monitoring and restoration projects.
